DEADLINE FOR GRANTS EXTENDED.....GRANT APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY FEBRUARY 22, 2008.......GOOD LUCK!
Bank of America School Matters! grant program is intended to support and celebrate effective, creative teaching connected to Maine’s Learning Results. After consulting with classroom teachers and curriculum specialists around the state, we have decided that the new iteration of the grant program will have specific emphasis on the differentiating instruction and changing instructional practices.
Grants will be awarded for classroom- or school-based projects, units, or lessons in K-12 public schools in all regions in Maine.
$500 grants will be awarded to individual teachers, or to each member of a group of teachers working together on a project up to $1500.
Criteria will be based on the following four areas:
- Planning - (Who has been involved in the planning and how will this grant help begin to change current instructional practices?)
- Instruction - (How does this grant support differentiation to meet the needs of all students?)
- Assessment - (How will you use on-going assessment to show growth?)
-
- Parent and Community Involvement - (How will you share what you learn with your colleagues and the community?)
Additional information on the Bank of America School Matters! may also be obtained by contacting the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education at 469-3231.
The School Matters! Program is funded wholly by Bank of America. The Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education administers the program in partnership with the Maine Dept. of Education.
