Issues Breakfast
The MCEE Issues Breakfast series are led by Coalition members who have experience with the particular topic. The objectives of the breakfasts are designed to better inform members of the issues and better leverage the knowledge and expertise of our members on the issues

Legislative Breakfast
MCEE hosts an annual Legislative Issues Breakfast forum for our Directors and members of the Maine Legislature.  This event provides an opportunity for our members to meet and discuss our goals and priorities with the legislators.  We worked with members of the 123rd Maine Legislature on the very important issues impacting K-12 education in Maine - the most notable of the session was district regionalization.  The 2008 Legislative Issues Breakfast was held in January.  Once again, we co-hosted the breakfast with the Maine Compact for Higher Education. http://www.collegeforme.com/maine_compact.html

Celebration
Each year the Maine Coalition for Excellence in Education recognizes outstanding leadership in education. This signature event started in 1998, continues to grow in importance for the Coalition and for the exemplary educators whom we honor. Our Board members believe that more needs to be done to honor and celebrate those educators who bring the best to the Maine classrooms.

In addition to the educators, MCEE recognizes Maine businesses, groups and/or individuals who demonstrate LEADERSHIP in education.  The 2007 Education Leadership Awards were presented to:  UNUM (business); The Committee of Four (Sen. Peggy Rotundo, Sen. Karl Turner, Rep. Sawin Millett and Rep. Emily Cain) group; and Marge Medd (individual)

Stakeholder engagement
Sometimes referred to as our "Road Trip", these treks around the state extend MCEE outreach to business, education, community and parent leaders and provide an opportunity for our members to gain a better understanding of the regional issues.
